Kai Meyer was born in 1969. He is one Germany's most successful writers. Since 1993 the former journalist has published over 40 books, translated into 20 languages. For his novel Frostfeuer he has been awarded in 2005 with the CORINE in the category Bestes Kinder- und Jugendbuch. Die Wellenläufer-trilogy (published by Loewe) – a fantastic pirates-story about two children that can walk over water – is very popular in Germany and has sold more than 250,000 copies in Germany alone.

Kai Meyer has a special relationship with comics and graphic novels and so the decision to publish a comic-adaption was made easily. When working on it, illustrator Christian "Mana" Nauck and his team were greatly supported by Kai Meyer.

Christian "Mana" Nauck , born in 1977 in Potsdam, lives and works in Berlin. He did some works for the online comic magazine Inkplosion and has also illustrated the comic titles Zoe, the special edition of Berlin, Berlin, together with author Dirk Bertram.
