:: Ursel Scheffler
Ursel Scheffler was born on 29th July in 1938 in Nürnberg, has three meanwhile grown-up children and lives today with her family in Hamburg. She studied French and English Language and Literature and Cultural Anthropology and she has a translator diploma for French. Already at school Ursel Scheffler liked to write and read, especially adventure stories. She began writing stories for her children when one day a friend told her: "Your stories are so marvellous, why not sending them to a publisher?"
Since 1975 her children books are being published. Meanwhile Ursel Scheffler has published more than 150 children books and her books are translated into more than 20 languages. She is going on reading tours in Germany and abroad. Some of her books were awarded by children juries and others international book prizes. Especially popular are her detective stories with Kommissar Kugelblitz. Since 1982 this series is a very successful part of our publishing program for SchneiderBuch. The detective cases of Kommissar Kugelblitz inspire the children to interact and to be pro-active. The red secret foil helps the junior detectives to find the solution. As a motivation for writing she sees her love for children and for language. Ursel Scheffler says today: "If I had to choose again, I would become a writer once more."
